I have read a few other people's experiences of abortions before I had mine and found them informative and helpful so now I would like to share my story After the doctor confirmed my positive test I was neither happy nor sad, more in shock. I didn't request a termination that day, I told a couple of close friends and thought carefully about my decision for the next 7 days. My first appointment was running late which did not help my nerves but I needn't have worried. The nurse that saw me was very nice and sympathetic, even gave me a hug when I later had a cry.
[Role of ultrasound in elective abortions]
Jump to main content. This study is the most comprehensive analysis to date of why the proportions of under pregnancies which end in abortion varies throughout Britain. Why do most pregnant teenagers opt for abortion in some areas, while most have babies in others? And what factors shape how young women decide for or against abortion? It summarises trends in teenage pregnancy, details existing research about variation in abortion proportions, and explores recent developments in abortion services. The authors detail research ranging from national data on geographical patterning to intensive interviews with young women and older people in specific communities. The study explores the relationship between social deprivation and young women's decisions, the availability of abortion services and young women's experiences of services, and perceptions of abortion and direct influences on young women's decision-making.
Obstetric ultrasonography , or prenatal ultrasound , is the use of medical ultrasonography in pregnancy , in which sound waves are used to create real-time visual images of the developing embryo or fetus in the uterus womb. The procedure is a standard part of prenatal care in many countries, as it can provide a variety of information about the health of the mother, the timing and progress of the pregnancy, and the health and development of the embryo or fetus. The International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology ISUOG recommends that pregnant women have routine obstetric ultrasounds between 18 weeks' and 22 weeks' gestational age the anatomy scan in order to confirm pregnancy dating, to measure the fetus so that growth abnormalities can be recognized quickly later in pregnancy, and to assess for congenital malformations and multiple pregnancies twins, etc.
